Shortly I will be posting reasons not to believe in any dogmatic religion, especially those requiring a "god." The reasons will be based on the incredibility of the god idea. It is logically impossible to disprove the existence of gods in general, so I will show that its existence is extremely unreasonable, given what we know of the world and universe.
I am just about finished writing a book called Christianity in Ruins: Exposing the Faith. It is an encyclopedic examination of the religion in which I try to describe almost every reason why the faith makes no sense, even on its own terms. A few of the most basic difficulties with it are these:
1. There is no evidence for God. The universe looks exactly as it would if God does not exist.
2. The Old Testament God was a murdering maniac who cannot be called "good."
3. The New Testament God is just as bad for condemning nonbelievers to eternal torture.
4. There is no evidence that Jesus lived as a human except for the Gospels. They are anonymous, written decades after Jesus supposedly lived, and contain no eyewitness testimony.
5. Christianity has been responsible for endless atrocities, such as the Crusades, the Inquisition, the killing of native peoples, and the cooperation of the Vatican with Hitler.
6. Literalist Christianity encourages intolerance and disdains genuine knowledge.
There are many more examples of the religion's incoherence and societal harm. The book is meant to further awaken society to these problems.
The book will be available in printed form in December, 2014.
